The creative minds behind A Minecraft Movie shared with IGN an amusing revelation: one of the film's most hilarious scenes drew inspiration from The NeverEnding Story. In a memorable moment, Jack Black's character, Steve, finds himself in a precarious position, having to cling onto Jason Momoa's character, Garrett, due to a shortage of Elytra wings. This leaves only Garrett and Sebastian Hansen's Henry equipped to fly. The scene showcases Steve's comedic struggle to stay aloft, resulting in a physical comedy goldmine.

"It was hilarious between takes when they cut," added producer Torfi Frans Ólafsson. "Jack was perched on top of Jason in this intricate rig... and he started singing The NeverEnding Story and riding him as if he were on Falkor."

This amusing reference is particularly poignant because Jack Black portrayed Slip in The NeverEnding Story 3. For Jason Momoa, who played Garrett, the scene was a highlight of his involvement in the film.

"I had a hand in writing that, and Jack was all in," Momoa said with a chuckle. "We were inspired by Top Gun: Maverick and wanted to execute a stunt where I could hit the brakes, causing Jack to slide down, and then I'd switcheroo on him. We were brainstorming this at the hotel and laughing about it, and it ended up in the movie. It's phenomenal."

Jack Black mentioned, "I don't know if it made it into the final cut because there were different versions of that scene, but it could have been rated R. Ultimately, we opted for a family-friendly version."
