Indie studio We Are Muesli has unveiled its latest narrative-driven project, *In Their Shoes*. Slated for a 2026 release, the game will be available on both mobile and PC platforms. Even before launch, it has already gained recognition with a nomination at the prestigious independent and arthouse games festival, A MAZE. 2025, set to take place in Berlin.

In Their Shoes: A Narrative Game That Listens

Set in modern-day Milan—a city of contrasts—*In Their Shoes* offers players an intimate journey through the lives of seven distinct characters. The game features 49 short interactive episodes known as “Moments,” each offering a brief yet meaningful glimpse into a character’s daily life.

Each Moment captures the subtle hesitations, routines, and snap decisions that define everyday human behavior. Some segments unfold slowly, allowing you to immerse yourself in a character's internal world, while others demand quick reactions, echoing the unpredictability of real-life situations.

What sets *In Their Shoes* apart from other narrative games is its intentionally fragmented storytelling. Rather than following a linear plot, players are encouraged to piece together the scattered stories across all characters. As you progress, you’ll uncover 26 hidden biographical details per character—offering deeper insight into their motivations and personal histories. This approach delivers a true slice-of-life experience, rich in emotional nuance and realism.
