Priced at $99, the Alarmo uses game sounds to rouse you from slumber. Nintendo boasts that it makes you feel like you're waking up inside your favorite game. Featuring sounds from titles like Mario, Zelda, and Splatoon, with free updates promised, the Alarmo offers a unique wake-up experience.
The alarm only silences when you fully leave your bed, which Nintendo playfully calls a "brief victory fanfare." Waving your hand merely quiets the alarm temporarily; prolonged slumber results in a progressively louder alarm.
Setup involves choosing a game, scene, and alarm time. The magic happens with the Alarmo's innovative technology.
Utilizing a radio wave sensor, the Alarmo measures your distance and movement speed without compromising privacy. Nintendo developer Tetsuya Akama explains, "It can detect subtle movements without filming, offering better privacy than camera-based solutions. Radio waves allow for dark room use and obstacle detection."
Early Access and Retail Availability
Nintendo Switch Online members in the US and Canada enjoy early access via the My Nintendo Store for a limited time. The Nintendo New York store also offers in-person purchases at launch.
A New Switch Online Playtest – Applications Open October 10!

Nintendo has announced a Switch Online playtest, accepting applications from October 10th, 8:00 AM PT / 11:00 AM ET to October 15th, 7:59 AM PT / 10:59 AM ET. Up to 10,000 participants will be selected, with non-Japanese participants chosen on a first-come, first-served basis. The playtest runs from October 23rd to November 5th.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership (by October 9th, 3:00 PM PDT).
- At least 18 years old (by October 9th, 3:00 PM PDT).
- Nintendo Account registered in Japan, the US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, or Spain.
