Nintendo has addressed a battery indicator issue reported by some Switch 2 owners and has now shared a set of steps to resolve it.

It’s important to note that this does not seem to be a problem with the Switch 2’s actual battery. Instead, it appears to be related to how the console detects the remaining charge—sometimes displaying a low battery warning even when there are still several hours of power available.

Nintendo's first recommendation is to turn off your Switch 2 and reboot it using the hidden Recovery Mode. To do this, hold down both the Volume Up (+) and Volume Down (-) buttons while turning on the console.

According to Nintendo, simply entering the Recovery Mode menu may be enough to reset the battery calibration and align it with the actual charge level.

If that doesn't work, Nintendo also suggests a more detailed procedure: charge the Switch 2 to 100%, let it run down until the battery is nearly empty, and then recharge it fully again.

Nintendo states, "Repeating this process several times will gradually improve the accuracy of the battery charge indicator." Below are the complete steps:

Make sure your console has the latest system version installed.Change all three Auto-Sleep settings to Never.How to disable Auto-Sleep mode:From the HOME Menu, open System Settings.Scroll through the options on the left and choose Sleep Mode.Set "Auto-Sleep (Playing on System Screen)", "Auto-Sleep (Connected to TV)", and "Auto-Sleep (Playing Media Content)" to Never.Plug the AC adapter directly into the console.Allow the console to charge until the battery reaches 100% or until it has been charging for at least three hours.Keep the console connected to the AC adapter for an additional hour.Once an hour has passed, unplug the AC adapter and let the console stay on the HOME Menu for about three to four hours.Continue using the console until the battery is nearly drained.Once the battery level is very low, turn off the console and leave it idle for at least 30 minutes.Repeat steps 3 through 6 multiple times.The battery indicator should slowly become more accurate as you repeat the process.

If the issue continues, Nintendo recommends having your Switch 2 serviced.
