Nintendo has unveiled Diddy Kong's refreshed design, following a similar update to his longtime companion Donkey Kong earlier this year.

Earlier in 2025, keen-eyed fans spotted noticeable tweaks to Donkey Kong's appearance across official character artwork and early Mario Kart World footage.

The revamped Diddy Kong design has now surfaced through Nintendo's website assets and promotional materials displayed at the ongoing Licensing Expo 2025 in Las Vegas.

As reported by Nintendo Life, the updated design features Diddy Kong with more expressive, rounded eyes and a mischievous yet approachable grin.

Expo attendees can see both redesigned Kong family members firsthand, with images circulating online courtesy of visitor Cptn_Alex's social media posts.

While Nintendo hasn't officially addressed the character redesigns, industry observers note the visual changes align with their appearances in the blockbuster Super Mario Bros. Movie.

Princess Peach also received subtle updates, with her Switch game packaging altered to better match her cinematic portrayal, as previously reported by IGN affiliate Eurogamer.

Donkey Kong stars in the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 title Donkey Kong Bananza, and while Diddy Kong's involvement remains unconfirmed, the visual refresh—alongside cameos from other Kong family members like Cranky Kong—strongly suggests his inclusion.

The Kong redesigns may also factor into the upcoming Super Mario World film sequel, building upon both characters' appearances in the first movie.
