Nintendo's Switch 2 Livestream Flooded with "DROP the PRICE" Demands
Nintendo's first post-Switch 2 Nintendo Direct Treehouse livestream has been inundated with angry comments from users demanding the company to "DROP THE PRICE." A quick look at the YouTube chat for the stream reveals a surge of complaints about the pricing strategy for Nintendo's next-generation console, which includes the $449.99 Switch 2 and, notably, the $79.99 price tag for Mario Kart World.
While the Nintendo Switch 2 system itself will retail for $449.99, a bundle is also available that includes Mario Kart World for $499.99, offering a $30 saving on the game's price.
Mario Kart World isn't the only game facing criticism for its $79.99 price point; other Nintendo Switch 2 Edition titles, such as The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, are also priced at $79.99.
Furthermore, Nintendo has drawn ire for charging for the Switch 2 tutorial video game experience, Welcome Tour, which fans argue should be a free pack-in. As a point of comparison, Astro's Playroom comes pre-installed on every PlayStation 5 console, doubling as a complimentary tech demo for the DualSense controller.
