Nvidia showcases new Doom: The Dark Ages gameplay

Nvidia's latest hardware and software showcase included a brief but exciting glimpse of Doom: The Dark Ages. The 12-second teaser highlights the game's diverse environments and features the iconic Doom Slayer, wielding a new shield. Launching in 2025 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, the game will utilize DLSS 4 technology.

This next installment in id Software's acclaimed Doom reboot series builds upon the foundation laid by the 2016 Doom title. While retaining the franchise's signature brutal combat, Doom: The Dark Ages promises significant visual enhancements, showcasing a range of locations from opulent corridors to barren landscapes. The teaser doesn't showcase gameplay, but it does effectively demonstrate the variety of environments players can expect.

Nvidia's showcase emphasized the game's visual fidelity, powered by the latest idTech engine and featuring ray reconstruction on the new RTX 50 series. The company's blog post confirms this visual showcase will be a key feature.

A Visual Feast

The Doom: The Dark Ages footage was shown alongside other highly anticipated titles such as CD Projekt Red's next Witcher game and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. The latter, in particular, was lauded for its impressive visuals, setting a high bar for graphical fidelity across platforms. This showcase serves as a prelude to Nvidia's upcoming GeForce RTX 50 series, promising even greater advancements in visual quality and performance for future game development.

While a precise release date remains unannounced, Doom: The Dark Ages is slated for release across Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC sometime in 2025. Further details regarding the storyline, enemy roster, and combat mechanics are anticipated in the coming months.
