Avowed, Obsidian Entertainment's highly anticipated RPG, will achieve a frame rate of up to 60 frames per second on the Xbox Series X, according to game director Carrie Patel in a MinnMax interview. While Patel didn't elaborate on specifics, the confirmation contrasts with the previously announced 30fps cap for the Xbox Series S version.
Whether Avowed will offer selectable performance and graphics modes (60fps with lower visuals vs. 30fps with enhanced visuals) remains unconfirmed. It's unclear if the 60fps target on the Series X is the default setting or a selectable option.
The game's release date presents a curious pricing structure. Early access begins February 13th for those purchasing the premium edition ($89.99), while standard edition owners ($69.99) must wait until February 18th. This staggered release, a growing trend among publishers, has already been abandoned by some, including Ubisoft.
