Meridiem Games, Omori's European publisher, has announced the cancellation of the game's physical release for Nintendo Switch and PS4 in Europe. The publisher cited technical challenges related to multilingual European localization as the reason for this decision.

Delays Leading to Cancellation

The physical release faced a series of setbacks. Initially slated for March 2023, the release was postponed to December 2023, then to March 2024, and finally to January 2025. These repeated delays ultimately resulted in the cancellation, leaving pre-order customers disappointed. While Meridiem Games declined to elaborate on the specific localization issues, the impact on fans is undeniable.

This cancellation is particularly disheartening for European players, as it prevents the official release of the game in Spanish and other local languages. While a US import remains an option, this is far from ideal.

Omori, an RPG centered around Sunny, a young boy coping with trauma, blends reality and dreamscapes. The game's journey between these worlds, where Sunny adopts the persona of Omori, captivated players after its initial PC release in December 2020. Subsequent releases on Switch, PS4, and Xbox in 2022 were met with enthusiasm, but the Xbox version was later removed due to an unrelated past incident involving merchandise. The cancellation of the European physical release adds another layer of complexity to the game's availability.
