The development of *The Outer Worlds 2* is progressing smoothly, according to Obsidian Entertainment CEO Feargus Urquhart, who provided an update on this eagerly awaited sequel to the acclaimed action RPG, as well as their upcoming fantasy RPG, *Avowed*. Amidst a bustling period at Obsidian, Urquhart remains optimistic about the future of both titles.

Obsidian Entertainment Confident About Upcoming New Titles

In an insightful interview with Limit Break Network on YouTube, Urquhart shared his confidence in the *The Outer Worlds 2* development team, stating, "I’m impressed with the team. We have a lot of people on that game that get it—who have worked on the first one and have been with us for a long time. So I’ve actually been really impressed by it." This reflects the dedication and experience of the team working on the sequel.

Despite facing significant challenges, including the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the studio's acquisition by Microsoft in 2018, Obsidian has navigated through a hectic development schedule. Urquhart candidly admitted that the studio struggled during a period when they were simultaneously working on *Grounded* and *Pentiment*. "We were kind of a crappy developer for about a year, year and a half," he said. There was even consideration of halting *The Outer Worlds 2* to focus on *Avowed*, but ultimately, Obsidian decided to continue with all projects.

Urquhart recounted the complexities of managing multiple projects: "We got acquired [in 2018], and we were figuring out how to be acquired, and then Covid happens, and we're trying to get *Outer Worlds* done, and we're trying to get the DLC done, and we're trying to move *Avowed* forward, and we want to start again on *Outer Worlds 2*, get *Outer Worlds 2* moving, and *Grounded* moving, and Josh is working on *Pentiment*." Despite these challenges, Urquhart proudly noted the success of *Grounded* and *Pentiment*, and expressed enthusiasm for the current state of *Avowed* and *The Outer Worlds 2*, saying they are "looking great" and "looking incredible," respectively.

While specific details about the content of *The Outer Worlds 2* remain under wraps, Urquhart acknowledged the possibility of delays similar to those experienced with *Avowed*, which has been pushed back to 2025. The CEO reiterated Obsidian's commitment to delivering quality games, stating, "We will get there with all these games. Are they going to be on the timelines that we originally thought? No. But we’re going to get there, and I think that’s been proven now." Both *The Outer Worlds 2* and *Avowed* are expected to be available on PC and Xbox Series S/X.
