HBO Max has released a new trailer for Peacemaker Season 2, kicking off by deepening its Superman ties with appearances from Maxwell Lord, Hawkgirl, and Guy Gardner.

The preview opens with Sean Gunn's Maxwell Lord, Nathan Fillion's Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, and Isabela Merced's Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl conducting a dismissive interview with John Cena's Peacemaker for a potential superhero team. The meeting is decidedly unsuccessful, leaving a dejected Peacemaker to storm out of the room.

This offers new glimpses of several supporting characters confirmed for James Gunn's upcoming Superman film.

Peacemaker Season 2 premieres on August 21, following the July 11 release of Superman, which serves as the third chapter in the DCU after last year's Creature Commandos series.

This rebooted cinematic universe from Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran departs from the critically panned DC Extended Universe, which featured films like Justice League and Batman v Superman, though it will retain some narrative elements.

Peacemaker exemplifies this transition, as its first season debuted within the old DCEU, while its second season launches in the new DCU.

Gunn has stated "many strands will remain consistent as far as Peacemaker's story goes," though specifics on what carries over from the DCEU remain unclear. He confirmed the return of the entire core cast, with John Cena leading alongside Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase, and Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo.

The showrunner also confirmed the series is set after the events of both Creature Commandos and Superman, with the latter's storyline directly impacting Peacemaker.
