Survival of the Fittest ranks among Phasmophobia’s toughest challenges, stripping players of standard evidence tools and sanity protection. You must pinpoint the ghost’s identity at 42 Edgefield Road using only behavioral clues.

This challenge unfolds at 42 Edgefield Road, a compact house map with tight hallways and blind corners, making ghost tracking and evasion especially tricky.

Strategies for Success in Phasmophobia’s Survival of the Fittest

At the location, key restrictions apply. Traditional evidence-gathering tools like Ghost Writing Books, DOTs Projectors, and Video Cameras are unavailable. Instead, focus on observing the ghost’s unique behaviors, such as movement speed or specific actions, to deduce its type.

Rely on alternative methods to identify the ghost. Study its behavior, model, or speed. Tools like the Parabolic Microphone or Salt can provide critical clues.

For instance, the Parabolic Microphone can pick up a Banshee’s scream or a Myling’s frequent sounds. Placing Salt may reveal a Wraith, while lighting three Firelights in a row could expose an Onryo. Refer to a No Evidence ghost behavior guide for additional help.

You begin with zero sanity and just five seconds of setup time, leaving you vulnerable to immediate ghost hunts. The two Sanity Medications provided are ineffective, so brace for a high-risk investigation.

Despite limited tools, the ghost exhibits high activity and frequent events, offering chances to observe unique behaviors. The ghost may roam, but its favorite room remains constant, aiding your investigation.

Most doors start partially open, complicating location tracking. However, the fuse box is functional and starts on, a rare advantage. All nine hiding spots at 42 Edgefield Road are accessible for safety during hunts.

You’re given one Cursed Possession: the Monkey Paw. Using it to “wish for knowledge” eliminates incorrect evidence and ghost types from your Journal, boosting your chances of a correct guess. However, this triggers a Cursed Hunt and temporary blindness and deafness.

This wish is risky, especially solo, as it starts a Cursed Hunt nearby. In groups, one player can make the wish to minimize disruption to the investigation.

Accessing Challenge Mode in Phasmophobia

Access Challenge Mode via the Difficulty Settings in the Main Menu. Choose Singleplayer or Multiplayer to start a lobby, then select the Difficulty tab and pick Challenge Mode.

Scroll to Challenge Mode and hit ‘Apply’ to set it. Ensure you select 42 Edgefield Road on the Maps board, as Challenge Mode doesn’t automatically choose the location.
