Hello discerning readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 28th, 2024. Yesterday's presentation was packed with exciting announcements, wasn't it? A flurry of surprise releases, too! This usually quiet Wednesday is anything but, and that's a welcome change. We've got news, a review of today's eShop additions, and the usual sales updates. Let's dive in!

The Partner/Indie World Showcase Delivered

Combining two smaller showcases was a smart move, resulting in a wave of announcements. Highlights include several surprise releases (detailed below), Capcom Fighting Collection 2, the Suikoden I & II remasters, Yakuza Kiwami, Tetris Effect: Connected, MySims, Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition, new Atelier and Rune Factory titles, and much more. I recommend watching the video for a complete overview. Plenty of excellent games for diverse tastes.

Castlevania Dominus Collection ($24.99)

A third Castlevania compilation, a pleasant surprise from the Direct. This collection features the three Nintendo DS titles: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. It also includes the infamous arcade game, Haunted Castle, alongside an M2-developed remake, a significant improvement. M2's meticulous emulation and comprehensive features make this an exceptional value.

Pizza Tower ($19.99)

This Wario Land-inspired platformer sprints onto the Switch. Conquer the five massive floors of the Pizza Tower to save your restaurant. Fans of Wario's handheld adventures will appreciate this, but even those without a strong Wario connection should consider it if they enjoy platformers. We aim to review this soon.

Goat Simulator 3 ($29.99)

Another surprise release. It's Wednesday, and these surprises are keeping things interesting. Goat Simulator 3 continues the chaotic antics of the series. While performance on the Switch remains to be seen (more powerful consoles have faced challenges), the game's inherent absurdity might even enhance any potential performance issues. Silly goats, open world mayhem – your Switch might not appreciate it, but you might!

Peglin ($19.99)

Electronic Arts missed a significant opportunity by not bringing PopCap games to the Switch. Peglin scratches that Peggle itch. This mobile hit is just as enjoyable on the Switch. It cleverly blends Peggle mechanics with turn-based RPG roguelite elements. A review is forthcoming.

Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story ($20.00)

Kairosoft adds a popular license to its simulation formula. Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story features characters from the beloved Doraemon series. The license is well-integrated, and fans might even spot cameos from the manga artist's other works.

Pico Park 2 ($8.99)

More Pico Park for existing fans. Up to eight players can join via local or online multiplayer. Cooperative puzzle stages require clever teamwork. A solid sequel, but unlikely to attract new players.

Kamitsubaki City Ensemble ($3.99)

An affordable rhythm game featuring Kamitsubaki Studio music. Simple, but enjoyable for the price.

SokoPenguin ($4.99)

A Sokoban-style puzzle game starring a penguin. One hundred levels.

Q2 Humanity ($6.80)

Quirky physics-based puzzles (over three hundred). Utilize character abilities and drawing mechanics. Supports up to four players locally or online.
