While expecting all these games on day one is optimistic, even half would constitute a fantastic launch. Here are our predictions (and hopes) for the Switch 2's debut:

Mario Kart 9

Over a decade since Mario Kart 8's Wii U release, it's become a karting benchmark, thanks to the Switch's Deluxe Edition and extensive DLC. Its immense success makes a sequel highly anticipated. While a 2022 report mentioned development with a "new twist," official confirmation is pending. We eagerly await this "new twist" and hope for a launch-day release. Mario Kart consistently proves to be a system seller.

A New 3D Super Mario Adventure

The Switch surprisingly lacks 3D Mario titles beyond Super Mario Odyssey (2017) and a Super Mario 3D World port. The absence of substantial DLC for Odyssey further fuels anticipation. A new 3D platformer with innovative gameplay, level design, and collectibles would be a welcome addition, ideally alongside Mario Kart 9, or shortly thereafter. Seven years without a new 3D Mario is too long.
