- His potential return to the US and the case's outcome remain uncertain.
YouTube personality Corey Pritchett is facing serious accusations: two counts of aggravated kidnapping. Adding to the shock for his fans, reports indicate he left the country shortly after the charges were filed.
For those unfamiliar, Pritchett is a US-based content creator known for his relatable online persona. His YouTube career, beginning in 2016, features family vlogs, challenges, and pranks. While not a top-tier YouTuber, he's amassed a considerable following, with his main channel, "CoreySSG," boasting approximately 4 million subscribers and his secondary channel, "CoreySSG Live," exceeding 1 million. A particularly popular video, "LET’S HAVE A BABY PRANK," has over 12 million views.
The alleged kidnapping incident occurred on November 24, 2024, in southwest Houston. According to ABC13, two women, aged 19 and 20, spent the day with Pritchett, participating in activities like ATV riding and bowling. The situation escalated when Pritchett allegedly threatened them at gunpoint, drove them at high speed on I-10, and confiscated their phones, reportedly stating his intention to kill them. The women later informed authorities that Pritchett appeared anxious, believing someone was targeting him, and that he'd been accused of arson.
Pritchett's Flight and Mocking Video
After stopping the vehicle, Pritchett allegedly allowed the women to escape. They walked for over an hour before finding help and contacting the police. On December 26, 2024, Pritchett was charged, but he had already fled to Doha, Qatar, on December 9th on a one-way ticket, according to authorities confirming with the FBI. He's now reportedly in Dubai, where he posted a video seemingly making light of the warrants, claiming to be "on the run." This contrasts with the serious situation faced by former YouTube streamer Johnny Somali, who is facing potential new charges in South Korea (though unrelated to Pritchett's case).
The future of this case is uncertain. Whether Pritchett will return to the US to face the charges remains unknown. It's worth noting the 2023 kidnapping and subsequent release of YouTuber YourFellowArab in Haiti, an event he later documented, highlighting the dangers faced by online personalities.
