Sony Increases PS5 Prices in Europe, Australia, New Zealand Amid Economic Challenges
Sony has announced an increase in the recommended retail prices for PlayStation 5 consoles in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, attributing the adjustment to a tough economic climate, including high inflation and volatile exchange rates.
The price adjustments were confirmed via a post on PlayStation Blog.
The PS5 Pro’s price remains unaffected.
Following similar RRP increases in 2022, the PS5 is now significantly pricier in many regions compared to its launch.
In Europe and the UK, the PS5 Digital Edition now costs €100/£70 more than its launch price (up from €400/£360). In Australia, the standard PS5 is AUD $80 higher than its debut price (from AUD $750), while the Digital Edition has risen by AUD $150 (from AUD $600). In New Zealand, the standard PS5 is NZD $130 more than its initial price (NZD $820), with the Digital Edition up by NZD $210 (from NZD $650).
However, the RRP for the PS5 disc drive has decreased to €80/£70/AUD $125/NZD $140.
