Capcom's Resident Evil 4 remake has achieved phenomenal success, recently surpassing 9 million copies sold since its March 2023 launch. This milestone builds upon the game's already impressive sales trajectory, having recently hit the 8 million mark. The surge in sales is likely attributed to the February 2023 release of the Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition and a subsequent iOS port late in 2023.

The remake's popularity is unsurprising, given the original game's iconic status. Following Leon S. Kennedy's mission to rescue the President's daughter, Ashley Graham, from a dangerous cult, the remake notably shifted the gameplay towards action, a significant departure from the series' survival horror origins.

Resident Evil 4's rapid sales have made it the fastest-selling title in the Resident Evil franchise, according to Resident Evil fan book author Alex Aniel. This remarkable achievement is highlighted by comparing its sales to Resident Evil Village, which reached only 500,000 copies sold in its eighth quarter.
