Scalebound, once a highly anticipated Xbox One exclusive, embodied ambitious action-game design. Its dynamic combat, captivating music, and unique dragon companion system generated significant buzz. However, despite its 2014 announcement, development ceased in 2017, leaving fans disappointed.

Recently, a video surfaced on Clover's Inc.'s X account, showing Hideki Kamiya and his team revisiting archived Scalebound gameplay. Kamiya expressed nostalgic pride in the project, despite its cancellation. He then retweeted the video with the pointed message: "Come on, Phil, let's do this!", directly addressing Phil Spencer, head of Xbox. This isn't a new sentiment; Kamiya previously expressed interest in reviving Scalebound in early 2022.

While speculation surrounding Scalebound's return frequently resurfaces, particularly intense rumors circulated in early 2023. Although several sources hinted at a potential reboot, Microsoft remained officially silent. Phil Spencer, when questioned by Game Watch, offered only a cryptic smile and "I have nothing to add at this time."

Even with renewed interest from Microsoft, a swift Scalebound revival is unlikely. Hideki Kamiya and Clover's Inc. are currently focused on a new Okami installment. Any Scalebound development would only commence after the completion of their current projects. Yet, the persistent discussion surrounding the game offers a glimmer of hope: perhaps Scalebound's release is not entirely out of reach.
