Here's the catch: to start fishing, you'll need a fishing rod and some bait/tackle, and conveniently, Simon the Fisherman is your go-to vendor for these essentials.

The crucial detail here is that you won't be able to catch any fish unless you have at least 5 bait items. We tried with just one Worm and caught nothing. It was only after we had 5 Worms in our inventory that we started catching fish. We suggest placing the Worms in your hotbar to keep an eye on your bait count. Once you're equipped with these essentials, you're ready to move on to the next step.

How to catch fish in Rune Slayer

Hold M1 to cast your line into a body of water (the pier near Simon the Fisherman is a good spot).

Then, keep an eye on the bobber. When you see it ripple once or twice, click M1 again to reel in your catch. It's that simple.

However, this method isn't foolproof. Often, you won't catch anything at all. Sometimes, you'll pull up junk instead of fish, but the good news is Simon counts junk as a catch (hence the quotation marks around "fish" earlier).

So, your goal is to cast your line, wait for the ripples, hit M1, and reel in anything five times. We managed to catch only two actual fish, with the rest being Old Cups.
