Saros Is Housemarque’s Successor to Returnal, Arriving in 2026
Housemarque's next title, Saros, is set to launch in 2026 exclusively for PlayStation 5, with enhanced features for the PS5 Pro. This new single-player action game, revealed during PlayStation's State of Play, stars Rahul Kohli and builds upon the studio's signature third-person action style, reminiscent of their hit roguelite, Returnal.
Players will take on the role of Arjun Devraj, a Solatri enforcer investigating a perilous, ever-changing planet shrouded in eclipse and guarded by formidable entities. The gameplay trailer showcases familiar Housemarque hallmarks: intense, bullet-hell-style combat and a "come back stronger" narrative loop, hinting at roguelike elements.
Creative Director Gregory Louden describes Saros as the "ultimate evolution" of Housemarque's gameplay-focused design philosophy. While sharing DNA with Returnal, Saros introduces a key difference: permanent progression. While the game world dynamically shifts upon player death, weapon and suit upgrades will persist, offering a unique twist on the roguelite formula.
