Shawn's is a standalone Star Wars story that'll take place post-nine, maybe five or six years out." This makes Levy's film the first to delve into the post-Rise of Skywalker era.

Kennedy also confirmed in the same interview that the movie will hit theaters after 2026's The Mandalorian and Grogu. She noted, "I'm producing the Mandalorian movie right now, and I'm also producing Shawn Levy's movie, which is after that." Additionally, it's been reported that Ryan Gosling is set to star in the film, adding to the anticipation.

Tropper's optimistic words suggest that progress is being made on Levy's project. However, fans will need to exercise patience, as the earliest release is expected in late 2026, if not 2027.
