In my excitement, I dove right in and opened ten packs, scoring a Charizard EX but not much else. However, pulling a Pokémon Center Lady card was a small comfort—she's great at healing Special Conditions, which is a handy trick when dealing with pesky status effects like Burns.

As with previous expansions, *Shining Revelry* introduces an Emblem event where you can earn beautiful new badges to show off to your friends. But the real excitement comes with the introduction of Ranked Matches. You'll be able to battle other Trainers as you climb from Beginner to Master Ball Rank, with points displayed and an emblem awarded at the end of the season, which lasts approximately one month. This is my cue to dust off my dueling skills and start seriously building my decks.
