12月6日，PC Gamer举办了“PC游戏展：最受期待游戏”活动，宣布《文明7》荣登榜首。该活动评选出了明年最令人兴奋的25个游戏项目。
在近三个小时的直播中，PC Gamer展示了2025年最受期待的游戏。游戏排名由“委员会”投票决定，该委员会由70多名成员组成，包括“知名开发者、内容创作者和我们自己的编辑”。除了游戏排名，活动还为其他游戏（如《让我们建造一个地牢》和《末日车手》）带来了新的预告片和内容。
《毁灭战士：黑暗时代》位居第二，《怪物猎人：荒野》位居第三。即将推出的独立游戏《杀戮尖塔2》位列第四。榜单上还包括《合金装备：Delta潜龙谍影》、《异形：重制版》和《王国之泪2》等游戏。令人惊讶的是，《空洞骑士：丝之歌》并未出现在榜单上，其预告片也没有在活动中播放。
《文明VII》将于2025年2月11日同时登陆PC、Xbox、PlayStation和Nintendo Switch平台。
《文明7》游戏机制助你完成战役
12月6日，在接受PC Gamer采访时，《文明7》创意总监Ed Beach解释了一种新的战役机制——“时代”，以帮助玩家完成战役故事。《文明6》的数据显示，大多数玩家都没有完成战役，Firaxis Games认为这是一个需要在下一款游戏中解决的重要问题。
Beach解释说：“我们收集到大量数据，表明人们会玩《文明》游戏，但他们永远无法通关。他们根本无法完成游戏。因此，我们希望尽我们所能——无论是减少微观管理，还是重构游戏——直接解决这个问题。”
《文明7》引入了一个名为“时代”的新功能。一个游戏流程或战役分为三个章节：古代时代、探索时代和现代时代。在一个时代结束后，玩家可以切换到另一个文明，这反映了历史上帝国兴衰的真实历史。
然而，下一个文明不能随机选择。它必须与你之前的文明具有历史或地理联系。例如，罗马帝国过渡到其现代对应物——法兰西帝国，诺曼帝国则充当两者之间的桥梁。
即使你切换到另一个文明，你的领导者也会保持不变。《文明7》的网站上写道：“领导者在所有时代都存在，确保你始终知道谁是你的帝国一部分，谁是你的竞争对手。”
关于前一个文明留下的建筑，有一个“叠加”功能，你可以过渡到一个时代后，在现有建筑之上建造新的建筑。然而，奇迹和一些建筑将在整个游戏过程中保持不变。
通过这些新功能，玩家可以在一个游戏流程中体验不同的文明，提供处理文化、军事、外交和经济事务的新方法，同时保留对特定领导者的依恋。
