ACMI’s Game Worlds exhibition, running from September 18, 2025, to February 8, 2026, will spotlight several iconic titles, including World of Warcraft, The Sims, and Australia’s own Hollow Knight: Silksong. The exhibit will present custom game builds, original design documents, concept art, and notable artifacts.

In an interview with IGN, ACMI co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell expressed excitement about featuring Silksong in the exhibit. They stated, “Since its 2019 reveal, Hollow Knight: Silksong has captured global anticipation as a leading indie title. We’re proud to highlight this South Australian creation as a cornerstone of Game Worlds this September.”

Since its announcement in 2019, details about Silksong have been sparse, leaving fans to piece together rumors and speculation. The Game Worlds exhibit at ACMI aims to quench this thirst, offering deeper insights into the game’s development and design.

The co-curators elaborated that the exhibit will explore the intricate world of Hollow Knight’s sequel. They noted, “From the countless sprites that bring Hornet’s movements and attacks to life, to the mechanics behind the game’s toughest boss battles, our Silksong displays—complete with in-gallery playability—offer an in-depth look at its artistic and technical craftsmanship.”

While the Australian exhibit may hint at Silksong’s release timeline, no official launch date has been confirmed. Last month, Silksong appeared briefly during the Switch 2 Direct, reaffirming a 2025 release window. With the exhibit running into 2026, fans remain hopeful for a launch as early as September or within the exhibit’s duration.
