Sony Cutting PS4 Games from PlayStation Plus Next Year
Sony is phasing out PlayStation 4 games from its PlayStation Plus Essentials and Games Catalog starting January 2026, focusing its efforts on PlayStation 5 titles.
This shift, announced alongside February 2025's PlayStation Plus monthly games, reflects Sony's observation that many players now primarily use PS5 consoles. The announcement clarifies that already-obtained PS4 games remain accessible, and existing Games Catalog titles will stay available until their scheduled removal. However, future additions to the monthly games and Games Catalog will primarily feature PS5 titles. Occasional PS4 offerings will continue but will no longer be a core component.
Sony assures subscribers that PlayStation Plus benefits, such as exclusive discounts, online multiplayer, and cloud saves, will remain. The company anticipates enhancing the service by regularly adding new PS5 games to the monthly offerings.
