"The Sony WH-1000XM5 is the big upgrade we've been waiting for from Sony's flagship wireless headphones. The new design and AI enhance the noise-canceling capabilities, while the ambient listening mode offers a splendidly natural experience. Audio quality is impeccable, whether you're listening to intricate classical music or the soundtrack of an action-packed movie. These headphones truly do it all."

The previous generation, the Sony XM4, was already an outstanding headphone, but the XM5 introduces key improvements in noise cancellation and comfort. The XM5 is equipped with a second processor and double the number of microphones dedicated to filtering out ambient noise. Additionally, the earcups have been redesigned to fit more snugly on the ear, creating a better seal and, consequently, more effective passive noise isolation. The noise cancellation is noticeably better than the XM4 and pretty much any other noise-canceling headset in its price range.

The Sony WH-1000XM5 also features a sleeker redesign with a different style of headband adjustment. The band is wider than before, providing better weight distribution, and the earcup padding is now made of a luxurious synthetic leather material that's softer and more comfortable. You can easily wear these headphones for hours. However, one small drawback is that the XM5 can no longer be folded inward, only swiveled, making it less compact.

The Sony WH-1000XM5 retains the XM4's excellent battery life, offering over 30 hours on a single charge even with ANC activated. It also supports fast charging over USB Type-C.
