Square Enix confirmed its ongoing commitment to Kingdom Hearts 4 through a vibrant social media update, sharing captivating screenshots that solidify anticipation for the game.

Yesterday, Square Enix announced the cancellation of Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link, a mobile action-RPG with GPS features, while reassuring fans that development on Kingdom Hearts 4 remains in full swing.

"We’re pouring our hearts into crafting Kingdom Hearts 4, aiming to deliver an adventure that exceeds your expectations," read one of two posts, accompanied by a vibrant collage of screenshots showcasing characters, cinematic moments, dynamic combat, platforming, and a formidable foe.

"Your enthusiasm fuels us, and we’re deeply grateful," the second post stated. "We’re thrilled to continue this journey and will share more about Kingdom Hearts 4 when the moment is right. Thank you for your unwavering support."

This marks the first significant update on the eagerly awaited sequel since a subtle tease in January. Initially unveiled in September 2022 with a cinematic trailer, Square Enix had remained largely silent until this reveal.

Series director Tetsuya Nomura previously suggested that Kingdom Hearts 4 will steer the franchise’s 22-year, 18-game narrative toward a climactic resolution.

Regarding the canceled Missing-Link, Square Enix expressed "sincere apologies to fans who were excited for its release," explaining that the project was discontinued as it was "deemed challenging to deliver a satisfying long-term experience."
