In Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, players can embark on the "For Science!" side quest, a rewarding mission leading to access to the STC Malachite facility. This guide details how to initiate and complete this quest.

Initiating "For Science!"

The quest begins at the Central Elevator in the Chemical Plant. Upon approaching, players will hear Yaryk Mongoose contact Skif via radio. Locate Mongoose on the first floor of the building (easily accessible by vaulting a railing after ascending the rusted stairs). He'll explain the need to activate a second measuring device atop a nearby silo. Agreeing to his request starts the mission.

Reaching the Silo's Peak

Ascend the building's stairs to the roof. Dispatch any rodents encountered. Exit through a broken window and descend a ladder to the silo walkways. Equip a bolt-action weapon to counter electro anomalies. Proceed along the silo's top to activate the second device.

Dealing with the Aftermath

Activating the device attracts Bloodsuckers. Players can either eliminate them or evade them to reach Mongoose.

Confronting Mongoose

Upon confronting Mongoose, he'll explain the experiment's unforeseen consequences. Players can choose to kill Mongoose or accept the reward peacefully. Neither choice significantly impacts the game's progression. Choosing the peaceful option yields the Malachite Pass and coupons. The pass grants access to the STC Malachite, unless already obtained through the main storyline. The Malachite pass is obtained either way, though killing Mongoose requires looting it from his corpse.
