"Star Wars: KOTOR Remake Developer Confirms Ongoing Development"
Saber Interactive has firmly stated that all of its previously announced projects are still in active development, despite the ongoing silence surrounding high-profile titles such as the much-anticipated Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) remake.
In the wake of the recent announcement of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3, Saber's Chief Creative Officer, Tim Willits, took to social media to reassure fans. "Saber Interactive is one of the largest independent developers in the world," Willits stated. "We are working on numerous games across many different genres. Everything that we have talked about is still in development. We will share information on upcoming games when we have something cool to share."
The most notable project mentioned in Willits' statement is the elusive KOTOR remake. Initially announced in 2021, this long-awaited title has undergone multiple development transitions, appearing to halt and then restart. Despite four years passing without significant updates, Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch confirmed in April 2024 that the project had moved with Saber during its separation from Embracer Group and remains in active development. "It's clear and it's obvious that we're working on this," Karch stated. "It's been in the press numerous times. What I will say is that the game is alive and well, and we're dedicated to making sure we exceed consumer expectations."
Willits’ latest comments, made nearly a year after Karch’s, reaffirm the ongoing commitment to the KOTOR remake, though no new visuals or details have emerged since the initial announcement video.
Beyond KOTOR, Saber Interactive is also developing several other titles. John Carpenter's Toxic Commando and Jurassic Park Survival are slated for release in 2025, though specific dates have yet to be announced. Additionally, Saber is working on a new Turok game and an untitled Avatar: The Last Airbender project. The recent addition of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 to their lineup further expands their portfolio.
