Stellar Blade Execs Looking to Release on PCSooner Than We Think?

Shift Up CFO Ahn Jae-woo spoke in the company’s IPO press conference last June 25, stating that the company is "currently looking at a PC version of Stellar Blade, which we believe would be a great way to monetise the IP once again," as reported by GameMeca and translated by Game8. Ahn also remarked that this consideration is made with the current distribution of the PS5 in mind and that the main consumer base of AAA games has begun to move to PCs instead of consoles.

To add to this, Shift Up’s CEO Kim Hyung-Tae added that the company is "currently reviewing the Stellar Blade PC version, but cannot comment on a tentative release timing due to their contractual relationship." This statement is backed up by the company’s public filing of considering a PC release and sequel for the highly-successful IP.

Kim also states that the goal of the company when making Stellar Blade was to "create a high-value IP to ensure branding in the process of gathering users from around the world and forming a fandom." With this objective in mind, Kim also states that they avoided aspects like microtransactions that could potentially harm the brand and plan to show this in a way that the fans can understand.

Future Updates and Collaborations Are Imminent!

It doesn’t stop there, however, as Stellar Blade’s update and DLC plan have been unveiled. The game is slated to receive multiple updates this year, including the highly anticipated Photo Mode in August, new outfits by October, and a major collaboration to be announced later this year.

Regarding the recent collaboration with Goddess of Victory: NIKKE, Kim stated that they are "reviewing various opportunities to generate positive synergy with each IP, and I think we will be able to show you good results soon."

Sold Approximately One Million Copies Globally!

It’s no secret that Stellar Blade has been one of the year's biggest surprises, and it shows, as Shift Up estimates they sold approximately one million copies globally within two months of launch. Not only that, but the game also topped major PS5 exclusive markets, including the US and UK, across sixty different retailers since its late April release.
