Nintendo Switch 2 Direct Scheduled for April 2, 2025

After months of speculation fueled by insider leaks, Nintendo has finally pulled back the curtain on the Nintendo Switch 2. A teaser trailer released on January 16, 2025, showcased a sleek new console that maintains the beloved hybrid functionality of its predecessor.

The teaser revealed a Switch 2 with a significantly larger display and a more robust kickstand. The Joy-Cons have been redesigned to magnetically connect to the console, moving away from the rail system of the original. Additionally, the console now features an extra USB-C port.

Backward Compatibility: Nintendo confirmed that the Switch 2 will support both physical and digital Nintendo Switch games. Ticket registrations for these events will open on January 17, 2025, at 12:00 P.M. PT / 2:00 P.M. CT / 3:00 P.M. ET and close on January 26, 2025, at 11:59 P.M. local time for each event location. Participants will be selected through a random process, and a Nintendo Account is required to join.
