Sydney Sweeney, renowned for her role in "Madame Web," is set to star in the upcoming movie adaptation of the popular video game "Split Fiction." This project is being spearheaded by Story Kitchen, the video game adaptation specialist behind the successful Sonic films. According to Variety, the film is gaining momentum, with "Wicked" director Jon M. Chu at the helm and the screenplay penned by the acclaimed writers of "Deadpool & Wolverine," Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Story Kitchen is currently presenting this impressive talent package to Hollywood studios, anticipating a competitive bidding war.

A key detail yet to be finalized is which sister Sweeney will portray: Zoe or Mio. The choice remains open, adding an element of anticipation to the project.

"Split Fiction," developed by Hazelight and led by designer Josef Fares, has seen remarkable success since its launch in March, selling over 2 million copies within a week. It's also slated to be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2. IGN's review of the game awarded it a 9/10, praising it as "an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another, Split Fiction is a rollercoaster of constantly refreshed gameplay ideas and styles – and one that’s very hard to walk away from."

Hazelight's success extends beyond "Split Fiction." Their game "It Takes Two," which sold 23 million copies, is also in the process of being adapted into a film, with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson potentially starring.

While there's always a risk that these adaptations might not come to fruition, the current wave of successful video game movies suggests a strong interest from Hollywood. Last year, Story Kitchen announced several other adaptations, including "Just Cause" directed by Ángel Manuel Soto, "Dredge: The Movie," "Kingmakers," "Sleeping Dogs," and even a live-action Toys 'R' Us movie.

Meanwhile, Hazelight is not resting on its laurels and is already teasing its next game, keeping fans eagerly awaiting more innovative gaming experiences.
