Tencent's shareholding in Kuro Games has risen to approximately 51.4%, following a recent acquisition of roughly 37% of the company's shares. This, coupled with the departure of other shareholders, grants Tencent controlling interest and makes it the sole external investor. This expansion builds upon Tencent's initial investment in Kuro Games in 2023.

Maintaining Independence While Expanding Reach

According to reports from Chinese news outlet Youxi Putao, Kuro Games will maintain its operational independence, mirroring Tencent's approach with other successful studios like Riot Games (League of Legends, Valorant) and Supercell (Clash of Clans, Brawl Stars). Kuro Games' official statement emphasizes that this strategic move will foster a more stable environment and support its long-term independent growth strategy. Tencent has yet to publicly address the acquisition.

Kuro Games is a prominent Chinese game developer celebrated for its action RPG, Punishing: Gray Raven, and its recent open-world RPG, Wuthering Waves.
