Mastering Rune Slayer: Essential Tips for New Players

After a long wait and two delayed releases, Rune Slayer is finally here, and it's fantastic! While incredibly fun, the game has a steep learning curve, especially for MMORPG newcomers. This guide provides crucial early-game advice to help you thrive.

Avoid Unprovoked Player Attacks

Initially, the full-loot PvP aspect was concerning. However, dying doesn't result in item loss, regardless of the killer. The catch? Attacking players incurs a bounty. More kills mean a larger bounty, leading to greater item loss upon your death. Therefore, avoid attacking unless strategically advantageous or backed by a group.

Craft Bags Immediately

Inventory and bank space are severely limited. Fortunately, crafting bags expands capacity. The initial Cotton Bag provides 10 extra slots. Source cotton north of Wayshire and flax south (beware of stronger mobs in the south). Craft these bags as soon as possible.

Your Pets Don't Perish

Contrary to popular belief, your pets don't die permanently. After reaching zero health, they have a 5-minute summon cooldown. Check this cooldown using the 'T' key. To quickly heal your pet, store and retrieve it at the stable master (you have one free stable slot).

Accept Every Quest

Rune Slayer features numerous, often forgettable, non-repeatable quests. To streamline progression, accept every quest offered, including those from the job board. This often allows for efficient quest chaining.

Craft Everything At Least Once

Prioritize crafting necessary items, but also craft anything you can with spare materials. Initial crafting often unlocks new, potentially superior recipes (e.g., crafting iron ore unlocked advanced iron armor).

Join a Guild

While Rune Slayer is solo-friendly, tougher enemies necessitate group play. Guilds are the easiest way to find groups, especially for challenging high-health bosses. Use general chat or the official Rune Slayer Discord to find a guild.
