If you're a fan of *The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered* on PC, you may have encountered significant performance issues. According to the experts at Digital Foundry, the game is plagued with "dire" performance problems. Video producer Alex Battaglia described it as "perhaps one of the worst-running games I've ever tested for Digital Foundry."

"Even with the most powerful hardware, the stuttering is egregious, severely impacting the gameplay experience. It's baffling how this was deemed acceptable for release," Battaglia remarked. He further noted that the game is unusually resource-intensive, compelling players to lower settings just to maintain an acceptable frame rate, even if they can tolerate the stuttering.

The mod description states, "Definitive Unreal ‘Engine.ini’ changes aimed at eliminating most stutters, enhancing performance and stability, reducing input latency, and improving picture clarity without any visual degradation."

P40L0 elaborated, "After extensive testing with UE5, I'm sharing my definitive custom 'Engine.ini' changes. My goal was to integrate as many optimizations as possible for CPU, GPU, RAM, and SSD to eliminate stuttering, boost performance, lower input latency, and enhance visual clarity by removing effects like Film Grain and Chromatic Aberration, and optimizing DLSS/FSR upscaling, all without causing visual loss, glitches, or crashes."

Feedback from users who have installed the mod has been overwhelmingly positive. Chubbyd07 exclaimed, "Stutter be gone! Simply amazing, thanks!" Yeeto51 added, "This .ini is a miracle. From 15-20 fps outside the prison to 65-70 stable. Running on 3600XT and a 2060 with 20GB of RAM." BabaSmith was equally impressed, stating, "Uhm, what the hell! I went from 60fps on High Preset around Waynon Priory to 90-110fps in the same location. Wizardry!!"

Despite the PC version's issues, *Oblivion Remastered* remains highly popular, boasting a significant peak concurrent player count on Steam and over 4 million players across all platforms. It enjoys a 'very positive' user review rating on Steam.

However, a recent hotfix released on April 25 has caused issues for Microsoft Store players, particularly affecting UI settings related to upscaling and anti-aliasing. Currently, Game Pass for PC players cannot adjust these settings due to a problem with the settings UI. Bethesda is actively working on a solution.
