Undead Smells Bad: A Quirky Twist on Wave Survival
  • Undead Smells Bad, from Sui Arts, is an upcoming isometric endless survivor game.
  • Bring the zombie-slaying action to Italy using an assortment of unconventional weapons.
  • This refined indie title is still in development, but already promises plenty of entertainment.

Since the days of Call of Duty Zombies, wave survival gameplay has become a staple in shooters and other genres. Whether facing monsters, standard enemies, or the classic undead, the format remains popular. Soon, players can step into the shoes of an ordinary person—not a skilled survivor or tough civilian—but an unlucky everyman in Undead Smells Bad!

As we finish up for the week, a few standout discoveries from recent days are finally getting their due attention. Undead Smells Bad is one such example. This top-down zombie survival game, slated for a mobile release in the near future, is in the works at accomplished indie studio Sui Arts.

You assume the role of the aforementioned unlucky survivor with an interesting twist: instead of fighting in America, known for its self-defense tools and baseball bats, the game is set in Italy. Firearms are scarce, so you use whatever’s at hand—tables, chairs, and any other movable object becomes a potential weapon. There’s nothing quite like fending off the undead by hurling an IKEA chair at them.

A horde of zombies approach a panicked looking man holding a trash-can over his head, a dog is lunging at him from the crowd.

Well-Preserved

While some indie mobile games can feel unrefined (and that’s perfectly fine), Undead Smells Bad displays surprising polish—especially considering it's still in early development.

With its energetic animations and sleek pixel-art style, this is certainly a title to keep an eye on. That said, since Sui Arts is based in Italy, an official English localization might take some time. Once it arrives, though, many players will surely dive in to smash some zombie skulls.
