Warner Bros. Announces The Shutdown Of Mortal Kombat: Onslaught Just One Year After Its Launch
Warner Bros. Games is shutting down its mobile title, Mortal Kombat: Onslaught, less than a year after its launch. The game was removed from the Google Play Store and App Store on July 22nd, 2024. In-app purchases will be disabled on August 23rd, 2024, with servers officially going offline on October 21st, 2024.
The reasons behind the closure remain undisclosed, though NetherRealm's recent dissolution of its mobile games division (responsible for Mortal Kombat Mobile and Injustice) suggests a potential shift in company strategy. Information regarding refunds for in-game purchases is currently unavailable, but NetherRealm and Warner Bros. promise further updates soon. Players are advised to monitor the official X (formerly Twitter) account for announcements.
Released in October 2023 to commemorate the franchise's 30th anniversary, Mortal Kombat: Onslaught offered a unique departure from traditional Mortal Kombat gameplay.
