According to a recent Bloomberg report, Warner Bros. has decided to cancel an unannounced paid DLC for the popular game, Hogwarts Legacy. The planned story expansion was set to launch this year alongside a "Definitive Edition" of the game. However, the decision to cancel came after concerns that the content volume did not justify the price point being considered. Warner Bros. declined to comment on the matter when approached by Bloomberg.

This cancellation is part of a broader restructuring effort within Warner Bros.' gaming division, which has been grappling with financial challenges. Earlier in the year, the company also canceled a planned Wonder Woman game and shut down the studio behind it, Monolith Productions, along with WB San Diego and the MultiVersus developer, Player First Games. Additionally, layoffs occurred at Rocksteady in September of the previous year.

Despite the setback with the Hogwarts Legacy DLC, Warner Bros. continues to emphasize the importance of the Harry Potter franchise and Hogwarts Legacy in particular. The company has publicly stated that a sequel to the game is a top priority as it shifts focus to fewer, yet larger, franchises. The original game has achieved significant success, selling over 30 million copies.
