Witcher 3: CDPR's Epic Open-World Storytelling Journey
In a recent interview, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, former lead quest designer for The Witcher 3, discussed CD Projekt Red's initial concerns about integrating a complex narrative into an open-world setting.

Tomaszkiewicz noted the bold ambition of merging expansive storytelling techniques, typically found in linear RPGs like The Witcher 2, with the open-world format. This was largely uncharted territory in game development.
CD Projekt Red initially feared that the story's scale might conflict with the open-world design. However, the team persevered, resulting in the critically acclaimed The Witcher 3. Now leading Rebel Wolves, Tomaszkiewicz is applying these lessons to their upcoming title, The Blood of Dawnwalker.
Set in an alternate medieval Eastern Europe with dark fantasy elements, The Blood of Dawnwalker centers around vampires. Currently in development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, the game is expected to have its gameplay revealed this summer, though a release date remains unannounced.
