This marks a significant shift from Microsoft's June 2024 showcase, where PS5 announcements were often delayed or omitted from initial reveals. The inclusion of PS5 logos in later showcases, such as the January 2025 event, demonstrates a commitment to transparency regarding game availability.

This contrasts sharply with Sony and Nintendo's continued focus on their respective consoles as primary platforms. Recent showcases from both companies largely avoided mentioning competing platforms, even for multiplatform titles.

In an interview with XboxEra, Phil Spencer explained the rationale behind this change. He emphasized the importance of transparency and ensuring players know where they can access Microsoft games. While acknowledging platform differences, Spencer prioritized making games accessible across various platforms, believing this benefits both players and game development.

Spencer's statement highlights Microsoft's intention to continue this approach, suggesting future showcases will likely include PS5 and potentially Nintendo Switch 2 logos for compatible titles. This could mean future Xbox showcases will feature games like Gears of War: E-Day, Fable, Perfect Dark, State of Decay 3, and Call of Duty with PS5 branding alongside Xbox. However, it's unlikely Sony and Nintendo will reciprocate this approach.
