To Enhance Game Stability and Localizations

FLINT, the developers behind ASTRA: Knights of Veda, have announced the removal of English dubbing from the game on January 23, 2025, aiming to enhance "game stability and improve the quality of localizations." This decision was communicated on January 20, with the goal of refining the game's localization efforts and ensuring its stability.

The scheduled maintenance on January 23 will lead to the cessation of support for several languages including German, Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian, and Italian. However, the game will continue to support Korean, English (text-only), Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, French, Thai, and Russian.

While English text support remains intact, the English voiceovers will be removed. Post-maintenance, players outside Korea will find their In-Game Voice option defaulting to Japanese. FLINT has reassured players that this adjustment will not impact their ability to communicate in any of the languages for which support was removed.

Although this change might worry some fans, FLINT is committed to enhancing the overall experience and service for the game's community, promising continued efforts to meet player expectations.

Other Gacha Games That Have Removed English Voiceovers

FLINT isn't alone in this decision; several other gacha games have also moved away from English voiceovers. For instance, Square Enix’s War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, Yostar Games’ Aether Gazer, and Amazing Seasun Games’ Snowbreak: Containment Zone have taken similar steps.

In May 2024, Square Enix announced the removal of English voice-overs for new content in War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, starting with Main Story Part 3, Chapter 8, and Another Story Chapter 3, Scene 7. Existing chapters will retain their English voiceovers, but new releases will automatically switch to Japanese. This shift aims to prioritize the Japanese language for future content.

Aether Gazer's developers announced in February 2024 the complete removal of English voice-overs following the "Crepuscular Cloudsong" update, citing financial challenges. The focus shifted towards enhancing gameplay, performance, and future content development.

Similarly, Snowbreak: Containment Zone's developers decided in December 2023 to remove English voiceovers from Version 1.4 onwards, following a detailed evaluation of player voice-over preferences and aiming to optimize the gaming experience.

These decisions across various gacha games reflect a broader trend towards prioritizing language preferences that align with the majority of players and reallocating resources to sustain the game's long-term development and quality enhancement.
