Defeating the Blade Phantom in The First Berserker: Khazan
Boss fights in *The First Berserker: Khazan* are a thrilling challenge, especially when you're up against a formidable foe like the Blade Phantom. To conquer this spectral adversary on the Trials of the Frozen Mountain level at Stormpass, you'll need to master the art of timing and strategy. Here's a detailed guide on how to beat the Blade Phantom.
Phase 1

As the battle begins, you find yourself in a castle with floors stained by a crimson liquid. The Blade Phantom launches a series of attacks designed to test your ability to manage stamina and counter aggression. Here are its common attacks:
- A six-hit combo with four punches and two kicks, the second being a delayed attack.
- A three-hit combo with two punches followed by a downward kick.
- A four-hit combo starting with a right hook and then two kicks, ending with a leaping kick smash.
- A three-hit combo with flashing punches, followed by a grab that you need to dodge.
Beyond these melee attacks, the Blade Phantom can summon a giant hammer in *The First Berserker: Khazan* that causes damage and red spikes to appear. If it uses a spear, prepare for a quick throw followed by a teleporting smash. When wielding a blade, it executes a swift six-hit combo. It can also vanish and dash around before striking.
Mastering the timing of these attacks is crucial. Parry or dodge them to create openings for your attacks, aiming to reduce the Blade Phantom's stamina enough to unleash a Brutal Attack. Continue this strategy until you've depleted about half of its health, triggering the transition to Phase 2.
Phase 2

In the second phase, the Blade Phantom starts with four claw attacks, followed by a high spear throw. Evade the area where the spear lands to avoid the subsequent leaping swipe. It then unleashes three greatsword slashes and a hammer smash.
While retaining many of its earlier moves, the Blade Phantom introduces new claw attacks, a spear thrust with a follow-up, and swift dual-wielding attacks. It also increases its teleportation frequency. Be especially vigilant when it wields the greatsword, as it can execute multiple slashes culminating in a Burst Attack, signaled by a red P-like symbol on the screen. Use the Counterattack (L1/LB + Circle/B) to successfully parry this move, restoring your stamina and leaving the boss vulnerable.
To maximize your damage output, strike when the Blade Phantom's stamina is low, and only initiate the Brutal Attack when the window is nearly closed. This strategy will help you secure victory and earn rewards including 8,640 Lacrima, Soul Eater gear items, a Shieldsman’s Ring, and Netherworld Mineral for crafting.
