Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the sequel continuing the story after the escape from Midgar, receives update 1.080. This update enhances the game's atmosphere and realism, providing a more refined haptic experience. The PC version launches January 23, 2025. This second installment expands the narrative and emphasizes exploration.

While Final Fantasy XVI's initial May 2024 sales were disappointing, sales eventually slowed, ultimately falling short of projected fiscal year targets. Precise sales figures remain undisclosed. Similarly, Square Enix hasn't revealed sales data for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which also underperformed expectations.

However, Square Enix clarified that they don't consider Final Fantasy VII Rebirth a complete sales failure. Furthermore, they remain confident that Final Fantasy XVI can still achieve its goals within the planned 18-month timeframe.
