Hideki Kamiya, the visionary behind iconic titles like Okami, Devil May Cry, and Bayonetta, embarks on a new chapter. After a two-decade tenure at PlatinumGames, he's launched Clovers Inc., a new studio dedicated to fulfilling a long-held dream: an Okami sequel.

A Sequel 18 Years in the Making

Kamiya's passion for Okami is well-documented. He's openly expressed his desire to complete the narrative, a sentiment shared in a memorable YouTube collaboration with Ikumi Nakamura. His previous attempts to secure a sequel at Capcom proved unsuccessful, leading to this exciting independent venture. Now, with Capcom as publisher, his ambition is finally realized.

Clovers Inc.: A New Beginning

Clovers Inc., a name echoing the legacy of the original Okami developer, Clover Studio, is a joint effort between Kamiya and former PlatinumGames colleague Kento Koyama. Koyama, Clovers Inc.'s president, handles business operations, allowing Kamiya to focus on what he does best: game development. The studio, currently employing 25 individuals across Tokyo and Osaka, prioritizes a shared creative vision over sheer size.

The team includes several former PlatinumGames employees, drawn to Kamiya and Koyama's collaborative spirit. Their shared passion fuels the development of Okami 2.

Departure from PlatinumGames

Kamiya's departure from PlatinumGames, a company he co-founded, surprised many. While he remains tight-lipped about the specifics, he suggests a divergence in creative philosophies played a role in his decision. However, the excitement surrounding Okami 2 clearly overshadows any past disagreements. The collaborative journey with Koyama, building Clovers Inc. from the ground up, is a source of immense satisfaction.
