Star Wars: Jedi Power Battles Gets a Jar Jar Binks Surprise

Aspyr has dropped a bombshell announcement: Jar Jar Binks is a playable character in their upcoming remastered version of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles for modern consoles! A new trailer showcases the Gungan wielding a hefty staff and delivering his signature chaotic dialogue.

The 2000 original featured a strong cast of characters, but Jar Jar’s inclusion is a definite curveball for fans. This updated release aims to tap into the nostalgia of the original while adding fresh content. Alongside lightsaber color customization and cheat code support, a whole host of new playable characters are joining the fray.

The trailer itself gives us a glimpse of Jar Jar’s gameplay, showing him battling foes with his staff. While some may have fantasized about a Darth Jar Jar-esque red lightsaber wielding character, this version remains true to the character's comical nature. Jar Jar will be ready to join the fight when Jedi Power Battles launches January 23rd; pre-orders are open now.

New Playable Characters Revealed:

Aspyr has unveiled a significant roster expansion beyond Jar Jar. Nine additional characters have been revealed, with more promised. This diverse group includes familiar faces like the Staff Tusken Raider and Rodian, alongside various droids such as the Flame Droid, Destroyer Droid, and Rifle Droid. Interestingly, Jar Jar isn't the only Gungan joining the fight, as the Gungan Guard is also playable.

With the release date fast approaching, fans can soon experience these new additions firsthand. Aspyr’s past work remastering classics like Star Wars: Bounty Hunter offers a degree of hope that this updated Jedi Power Battles will satisfy the expectations of nostalgic players.
