Major Summer Update Planned for Nightingale
Inflexion Games, led by former Bioware head Aaryn Flynn, recently revealed plans for a substantial update to Nightingale, addressing concerns about player engagement and overall game satisfaction. In a YouTube video, Flynn and art/audio director Neil Thomson discussed the game's current shortcomings and the upcoming improvements.Flynn openly acknowledged dissatisfaction with the game's performance since its February early access launch. While the team has focused on quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes, including the popular addition of offline mode, the core gameplay experience needs refinement. The summer update aims to address these issues.
Thomson described Nightingale's open-world design as "almost too open world," leading to a lack of clear direction and repetitive gameplay. The update will introduce more structured progression, clearer goals, and improved realm design to combat the feeling of sameness.
"We love the game, but see significant room for improvement," Flynn stated, emphasizing the need for a more guided player experience with better understanding of progression and realm differences. The update will also re-evaluate core game mechanics and increase build limits for more complex structures. Previews of these changes are expected soon.
Despite currently holding "Mixed" Steam reviews, Nightingale is seeing a rise in positive feedback, with approximately 68% of recent reviews being positive. Flynn and Thomson expressed appreciation for player support and feedback, promising a significantly enhanced experience with the upcoming update.
Game8 shares similar concerns about Nightingale's lack of guidance and overly complex crafting systems. For a detailed review, please follow the link below.
