A leaked internal video shows Sony exploring AI-powered character interactions within PlayStation games, featuring Horizon's Aloy as a test case.

The Verge obtained footage allegedly from PlayStation Studios' R&D team, demonstrating conversational AI technology using Aloy from Horizon games. The video was later removed from YouTube after a copyright claim by Muso - a digital rights firm representing Sony - lending credibility to its authenticity. IGN has reached out to Sony for official comment.

According to The Verge's report, the demo features PlayStation engineering director Sharwin Raghoebardajal conversing with an AI-powered Aloy through voice commands, showcasing real-time speech synthesis and facial animation systems.

The prototype integrates multiple AI technologies: OpenAI's Whisper for speech recognition, GPT-4 and Llama 3 for dynamic dialogue processing, Sony's Emotional Voice Synthesis (EVS) for voice generation, and Mockingbird tech for facial animation.

In the demonstration, Raghoebardajal asks about Aloy's wellbeing, receiving the response: "Hello, I'm managing fine - just battling a sore throat. How about you?"

Notably, Aloy's AI-generated voice differs from Ashly Burch's iconic performance, instead using generic text-to-speech vocal patterns. The character's facial expressions appear rigid, with noticeably unnatural eye movements during conversations.

Questioned about her personal storyline, the AI Aloy responds regarding her clone status: "Discovering I was Dr. Sobeck's genetic replica helped me understand my purpose and origins." When pressed about her feelings, she answers: "Being cloned feels distinctive - it connects me to history while letting me forge my own destiny."

The demo transitions into Horizon Forbidden West's game world, creating an unusual scenario where players converse with their controllable protagonist. The choice of Aloy proves particularly ironic given Horizon's narrative themes about artificial intelligence.
