Nintendo Switch 2 owners are discovering damaged screens due to store receipts being stapled directly onto console boxes.

Multiple customer reports reveal how staples easily pierce through the Switch 2's minimal packaging - a thin cardboard box containing a fragile plastic sleeve housing the console.

"GameStop stapled receipts to mine and my friends' Switch 2 boxes. Absolute nightmare," shared one disappointed fan after collecting their console at a midnight launch. "Now I'm facing a three-month wait for replacements."

Multiple photos document receipts from Staten Island's GameStop branch, where employees stapled receipts to numerous midnight launch consoles. Footage from the event shows crowds of customers who now appear similarly affected.

"My midnight launch experience turned sour," posted another victim on Reddit, showing staple-pierced screens. "Looks like everyone at that location faced identical issues - over 100 customers attended."

"Hi, my Switch 2 screen has staple holes," tweeted another frustrated customer attempting to contact GameStop and Nintendo. "The receipt was stapled at Staten Island's Forest Avenue location, damaging my screen." Neither company has responded.

"Complete strangers and I faced identical problems at the same GameStop," shared another Reddit user. "Looks like their entire pre-order batch got ruined."

IGN has reached out to GameStop and Nintendo regarding potential retail handling guidelines to prevent future incidents.

While criticism targets GameStop, customers also question Nintendo's packaging design choices that left Switch 2 screens vulnerable.

"Don't blame employees entirely, but Nintendo's packaging seems poorly thought out," commented one affected owner. "Why expose the screen with minimal protection? Though stapling was undeniably dumb."

The Switch 2 ships with its screen positioned outward at the box's front with inadequate protection. Firsthand experience confirms minimal safeguards against screen damage.

IGN has contacted multiple affected customers. One GameStop buyer plans to return their damaged console today - likely joining numerous others.
